If there’s anything I prioritize when traveling, it’s beauty. Aside from other essentials, of course. Packing the right travel-sized beauty products into your bag when traveling is a must. I value these things so much, I always place my makeup and skincare bags in my carry-on. In case your luggage gets lost, wouldn’t you still want to look good (in distress)?

But first, let’s talk about carry-ons
My carry-on is always a large bag which I could easily fit a small purse into, makeup and skincare pouches, any chargers, and tech and if possible, a couple of pairs of shoes. And yes, I have fit all of this into a carry-on bag plenty of times. My go-to carry on tote is the Le Pliage (large) by Longchamp and the travel duffel. Aside from the tote, I always bring a carry-on suitcase. Only if it’s a long trip, I will check a larger suitcase.

What’s in my makeup bag?
This all depends on the destination. If you’re traveling to a tropical climate, minimal makeup will do. A nice tinted lip gloss, light concealer, beauty balm (with SPF), and mascara will do. For colder climates, you may want to pack lipstick, blush, even foundation. It all depends on your style and the look you’re trying to achieve when you’re away.

What’s in my skincare bag?
Skincare is so important when traveling. One thing I like to do is research the weather. For example, California is pretty dry so it’s good to pack a few hydrating face masks to use either on the plane or at nighttime. If I’m traveling to the caribbean, makeup is more minimal and SPF is higher.

Beauty rituals on the plane / car
Another reason to carry your beauty essentials on you- you can do stuff like mask on the plane or car. Long car ride? Eye masks work wonders. Plane ride? A moisturizing face sheet mask is perfect to prevent your skin from drying. You’ll come off the plane with supple, glowing skin.
